Varun Chandra leaves Hakluyt Capital for key business role in UK government

Varun Chandra has stepped down as chairman of Hakluyt Capital, and as the managing partner of Hakluyt, after being appointed the prime minister’s special adviser on business and investment in the new UK government.

Along with the other founding partners, Nick Bidmead and James Potts, Varun has led Hakluyt Capital since it was created in 2022.

Varun said: “Founding Hakluyt Capital and exceeding our first investment target of $50 million has been among the proudest moments of my career. I have every confidence that the fund will go from strength to strength, continuing to support the leaders of some of the world’s most dynamic and innovative companies.”
